Emergency Travel Documents (ETD)

The Emergency Travel Document (ETD) is a provisional travel document valid for 5 days from the date of issue. It can be issued in the event of theft or loss of a passport and can be used solely for returning to Italy or to the EU Member State where the applicant has permanent residence, as proven by AIRE registration.

Applicants can email perth.passaporti@esteri.it to request an ETD. They will be contacted as soon as possible with the appointment details and a list of documents to bring to the Consulate (2 passport photos in ICAO format, a copy of the lost passport or another form of ID, travel tickets to Italy or the other EU country of AIRE residence, consent form in case of minor children).

The cost of the ETD, like all consular services, varies quarterly based on the Euro–Australian Dollar exchange rate update. The updated fee schedule is always available [here].
