5th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World (23 to 29 November)

The 5th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World takes place from 23 to 29 November, the theme of which is “Knowledge and tastes of Italian territories 200 years after the birth of Pellegrino Artusi“.

This yearly event is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation together with the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, as well as all the main bodies, associations and institutions representing Italian cuisine and Italy in the world: Regions, ICE Agency, ENIT Agency, universities, chambers of commerce, trade associations, cooking schools, networks of Italian restaurants and operators in the food and wine sector.

The main objective is to promote the quality of Italian cuisine and our agri-food products. This is achieved by the entire Italian diplomatic-consular network by highlighting the Mediterranean diet as a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet within everyone’s reach, enhancing products with a protected and controlled designation, counteracting the phenomenon of Italian sounding, presenting itineraries of food and wine and regional tourism, promoting the rediscovery of Italian villages and their typical culinary products, illustrating the Italian training offer in the cooking and hospitality sector.

The program of the events in Western Australia (being updated) includes:

November 26 at 6 pm: at the restaurant “1934” of the Italian Club of Perth, an eno-gastronomic itinerary will be held through the extraordinary variety of 6 Italian regions: Liguria, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Campania and Sardinia (poster on your right). The event is organized by the Consulate and the WA Italian Club (events@waitalianclub.com);

November 27 at 7pm: at the Dante Alighieri Society there will be a seminar about the Mediterranean diet held by the President of the Committee and nutritionist, Alessandro Vero (poster on your right; info@dantewa.com.au);

November 28 from 10am to 6pm: at the restaurant “Parlapa” in Fremantle there will be a special celebration of the “Bagna Cauda Day”, dedicated to the traditional dish from Piedmont (poster on your right; parlapafreo@gmail.com);

November 29 at 7pm: a tasting of wines from Veneto presented by Fine Wines Wholesalers (poster on your right) will be held at the “Simple Italian” pizzeria in Perth. The event is organized by the ItalWA association (info@italwa.com.au).

In addition to the listed events, during the whole week many Italian restaurants will offer their customers several regional menus specially designed for the occasion and which will be easy to identify thanks to the official logo of the Cuisine Week (Italian Taste). Among them Perugino, Lupolab, No Menu, Acqua e sale, Birraz, Simple Italian Pizzeria, etc.
