4th ITALIAN DESIGN DAY

The 4th Italian Design Day will be celebrated on November 4th at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle.

It is an annual event promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Economic Development, Confindustria and the Association for Industrial Design. The celebration usually takes place in March, but this year has been postponed to November due to the pandemic.

The theme of this year’s edition is “Drawing the future: development, innovation, sustainability, beauty”. Click here to read the volume created by the ADI.

The conference aims to highlight how the beauty and quality of Italian design must be interpreted not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also as tools of connection, innovation, sustainability and a celebration of “Made in Italy” at 360 degrees.
The existing connections between Italy and Western Australia in terms of sustainable design and architecture will be presented. Experts, scholars, representatives of companies will deliver presentations for an overview of the state of the art and the needs of Western Australia in terms of development of this sector.

Guest speaker connected live from Italy will be Prof. Carlo Arnaldo Vezzoli, professor of Design for environmental sustainability at the Politecnico di Milano.

The “1920/2020 Magistretti” exhibition dedicated to the centenary of the great Italian designer Vico Magistretti will also be inaugurated during the event.
