In recent years, economic and commercial relations between Italy and Western Australia have developed vigorously.
Attracted by the opportunities generated by the extraordinary rates of economic growth recorded in recent years thanks to the boom in the mining and energy industries, more and more Italian companies are heading towards this State of the Australian Commonwealth.
In 2022, Italian exports to Western Australia amounted to about 680.3 million Australian dollars (about 415 million euros), while overall trade stood at 720 million Australian dollars (386 million euros), making Italy Western Australia’s 28th largest trading partner.
In recent years, Italian companies have been awarded contracts in the mining, energy and infrastructure sectors for approximately 4 billion Australian dollars (equal to approximately 2.7 billion euros).
There are about 35 Italian companies with a stable presence in Western Australia, i.e. with a real headquarters or with a representative office. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Western Australia has adopted a vast plan to support the recovery of the economy which offers numerous opportunities also for Italian companies.
