of re-acquisition of Italian citizenship &#8211; Procedure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"293\" data-end=\"551\">We hereby inform that, from <strong data-start=\"330\" data-end=\"367\">July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027<\/strong>, it will be possible to submit a <strong data-start=\"401\" data-end=\"457\">declaration of re-acquisition of Italian citizenship<\/strong>, pursuant to <strong data-start=\"471\" data-end=\"515\">Art. 17, paragraph 1, of Law no. 91\/1992<\/strong>, as amended by <strong data-start=\"531\" data-end=\"550\">Law no. 74\/2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"553\" data-end=\"581\">\ud83d\uddd3 <strong data-start=\"556\" data-end=\"581\">APPLICATION PROCEDURE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"700\">Applications for re-acquisition will be accepted <strong data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"666\">exclusively on a walk-in basis<\/strong>, on the following days and times:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"702\" data-end=\"800\">\ud83d\uddd3 <strong data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"729\">TUESDAY and THURSDAY<\/strong>, from <strong data-start=\"736\" data-end=\"763\">9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.<\/strong><br data-start=\"763\" data-end=\"766\" \/>\ud83d\udccd At the Consular Office counters<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"1120\">\u26a0\ufe0f <strong data-start=\"805\" data-end=\"821\">PLEASE NOTE:<\/strong><br data-start=\"821\" data-end=\"824\" \/>Only applications <strong data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"886\">complete with all required documentation<\/strong>, as specified in the checklist published on the website, will be considered.<br data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"966\" \/>It is the <strong data-start=\"976\" data-end=\"1016\">sole responsibility of the applicant<\/strong> to submit all documents duly legalized (apostilled) and translated, as required by current regulations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1164\">\ud83d\udcb6 A consular fee of <strong data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1151\">\u20ac250<\/strong> is required.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1166\" data-end=\"1202\">\u2705 <strong data-start=\"1168\" data-end=\"1202\">ELIGIBILITY FOR RE-ACQUISITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1266\">Italian citizenship may be re-acquired in the following cases:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1290\">The applicant must be:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1292\" data-end=\"1373\">\n<li data-start=\"1292\" data-end=\"1313\">\n<p data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1313\">born in Italy, or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1314\" data-end=\"1373\">\n<p data-start=\"1316\" data-end=\"1373\">have resided in Italy for at least two consecutive years;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1375\" data-end=\"1478\">And must have lost Italian citizenship <strong data-start=\"1414\" data-end=\"1447\">no later than August 15, 1992<\/strong>, in one of the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1480\" data-end=\"1723\">\n<li data-start=\"1480\" data-end=\"1542\">\n<p data-start=\"1482\" data-end=\"1542\">voluntarily acquired a foreign citizenship and moved abroad;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1543\" data-end=\"1625\">\n<p data-start=\"1545\" data-end=\"1625\">renounced Italian citizenship after involuntarily acquiring another citizenship;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1626\" data-end=\"1723\">\n<p data-start=\"1628\" data-end=\"1723\">was a minor child living with a parent who lost Italian citizenship and acquired a foreign one.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1725\" data-end=\"1762\">\u26d4 <strong data-start=\"1727\" data-end=\"1762\">NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RE-ACQUISITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1764\" data-end=\"1823\">Re-acquisition is <strong data-start=\"1782\" data-end=\"1799\">not permitted<\/strong> in the following cases:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1825\" data-end=\"2131\">\n<li data-start=\"1825\" data-end=\"1919\">\n<p data-start=\"1827\" data-end=\"1919\">The applicant was born abroad and never resided in Italy for at least two consecutive years;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1920\" data-end=\"1965\">\n<p data-start=\"1922\" data-end=\"1965\">Lost citizenship <strong data-start=\"1939\" data-end=\"1964\">after August 15, 1992<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1966\" data-end=\"2049\">\n<p data-start=\"1968\" data-end=\"2049\">Lost citizenship due to military service or employment with a foreign government;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2050\" data-end=\"2131\">\n<p data-start=\"2052\" data-end=\"2131\">Did not exercise the option under <strong data-start=\"2086\" data-end=\"2130\">Art. 5, paragraph 2, of Law no. 123\/1983<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2133\" data-end=\"2179\">\ud83d\udcdd <strong data-start=\"2136\" data-end=\"2179\">HOW TO SUBMIT THE DECLARATION OF INTENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2181\" data-end=\"2312\">The declaration must be made <strong data-start=\"2210\" data-end=\"2223\">in person<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2225\" data-end=\"2263\">exclusively at the Consular Office<\/strong>, between <strong data-start=\"2273\" data-end=\"2311\">July 1, 2025 and December 31, 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2314\" data-end=\"2466\">\ud83d\udcc4 Required documentation in <strong data-start=\"2343\" data-end=\"2385\">original, complete, and authentic form<\/strong> (documents issued by foreign authorities must be presented with apostille and translated):<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2468\" data-end=\"3088\">\n<li data-start=\"2535\" data-end=\"2584\">\n<p data-start=\"2537\" data-end=\"2584\"><strong data-start=\"2562\" data-end=\"2583\">birth certificate<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2585\" data-end=\"2694\">\n<p data-start=\"2587\" data-end=\"2694\">For those born abroad: <strong data-start=\"2610\" data-end=\"2658\">historical certificate of residence in Italy<\/strong> for at least two consecutive years;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2695\" data-end=\"2800\">\n<p data-start=\"2697\" data-end=\"2800\"><strong data-start=\"2697\" data-end=\"2746\">Historical certificate of Italian citizenship<\/strong> (proving previous possession of Italian citizenship);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2801\" data-end=\"3041\">\n<p data-start=\"2803\" data-end=\"3041\">Documentation proving the reason and date of loss of Italian citizenship: naturalization certificate <strong data-start=\"2904\" data-end=\"2910\">or<\/strong> birth certificate accompanied by the citizenship certificate and the legal basis under which the foreign citizenship was acquired;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3042\" data-end=\"3088\">\n<p data-start=\"3044\" data-end=\"3088\">\ud83d\udcb6 A consular fee of <strong data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1151\">\u20ac250<\/strong> is required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3090\" data-end=\"3189\">\u26a0\ufe0f <strong data-start=\"3093\" data-end=\"3189\">Self-declarations under Articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree 445\/2000 are not accepted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3191\" data-end=\"3223\">\ud83d\udec2 <strong data-start=\"3194\" data-end=\"3223\">EFFECTS OF RE-ACQUISITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3225\" data-end=\"3333\">Italian citizenship is re-acquired <strong data-start=\"3260\" data-end=\"3300\">on the day following the declaration<\/strong>, with <strong data-start=\"3307\" data-end=\"3332\">no retroactive effect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3335\" data-end=\"3605\">\u26a0\ufe0f Re-acquisition does <strong data-start=\"3358\" data-end=\"3406\">not extend to minor children residing abroad<\/strong>.
