Witnesses are not required.<\/p>\n<p>Interested parties may submit their declaration of intent to reacquire Italian citizenship at this Consulate , <u>without an appointment<\/u>, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:00 to 12:30 (<u>last admission at 12:00 PM<\/u>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applicants who WERE BORN IN ITALY must:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Present their\u00a0<strong>Australian (or foreign) passport<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>proof of residential address<\/strong>\u00a0(e.g., driver\u2019s license, utility bill, or lease agreement).<\/li>\n<li>Provide the following documents:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Birth certificate\u00a0<\/strong>issued by the relevant Italian municipality;<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>naturalization certificate<\/strong>\u00a0(from Australia or another country), and if applicable, a certificate of\u00a0<strong>renunciation of Italian citizenship<\/strong>, showing the cause and date of citizenship loss;<\/li>\n<li>If the\u00a0<strong>date of loss<\/strong>\u00a0is not clearly stated in the above documents, it must be provided separately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Pay the\u00a0<strong>consular fee<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>\u20ac250<\/strong>, as required under Article 7C (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consperth.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/fees\/\">consular fees<\/a>).<br \/>\nPayment must be made in\u00a0<strong>Australian dollars<\/strong>, either\u00a0<strong>by debit card<\/strong>\u00a0(credit cards not accepted) or\u00a0<strong>in cash<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applicants who WERE NOT BORN IN ITALY must:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Present their\u00a0<strong>Australian (or foreign) passport<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>proof of residential address<\/strong>\u00a0(e.g., driver\u2019s license, utility bill, or lease agreement).<\/li>\n<li>Provide the following documents:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Original birth certificate with apostille and translation<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>historical certificate of residence<\/strong>\u00a0in Italy for at least two consecutive years, issued by the relevant Italian municipality;<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>historical certificate of Italian citizenship<\/strong>\u00a0to prove prior possession;<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>naturalization certificate<\/strong>\u00a0(from Australia or another country), and if applicable, a certificate of\u00a0<strong>renunciation of Italian citizenship<\/strong>, showing the cause and date of citizenship loss;<\/li>\n<li>If the\u00a0<strong>date of loss<\/strong>\u00a0is not clearly stated in the above documents, it must be provided separately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Pay the\u00a0<strong>consular fee<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>\u20ac250<\/strong>, as required under Article 7C (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consperth.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/fees\/\">consular fees<\/a>).<br \/>\nPayment must be made in\u00a0<strong>Australian dollars<\/strong>, either\u00a0<strong>by debit card<\/strong>\u00a0(credit cards not accepted) or\u00a0<strong>in cash<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the required documentation is incomplete,\u00a0<strong>the declaration will not be accepted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Substitute declarations under Articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree No. 445 of December 28, 2000,\u00a0<strong>cannot<\/strong>\u00a0be used in place of the required documentation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The declaration of intent to reacquire Italian citizenship can be submitted between July 1, 2025, and\u00a0December 31, 2027.
