{"id":1402,"date":"2023-09-07T18:20:06","date_gmt":"2023-09-07T10:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consperth.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/carta-didentita-elettronica-cie\/"},"modified":"2023-09-11T12:12:58","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T04:12:58","slug":"carta-didentita-elettronica-cie","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/consperth.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/carta-didentita-elettronica-cie\/","title":{"rendered":"Italian Electronic ID Card \u2013 CIE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ITALIAN ELECTRONIC ID CARD \u2013 CIE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Starting from October 2023 the Consulate of Italy in Perth is entitled to issue the Italian Electronic ID Card<\/p>\n<p>The Italian electronic ID card is an identification document used to verify a person\u2019s identity and to travel to EU Member States, some Schengen States (i.e. Iceland, Norway and Switzerland) and other States with which bilateral agreements have been reached (please visit each country tab on www.viaggiaresicuri.it).<\/p>\n<p>The Consulate is entitled to issue an ID card <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">only to Italian nationals legally residing in the WA consular district and registered in AIRE<\/span> (Anagrafe degli Italiani Residenti all\u2019Estero). If you have changed your residence address, you need to communicate it through the FAST IT web portal before booking your appointment.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Italian Electronic ID Cards are not issued at the counter<\/span>. Instead, they are posted to the applicant\u2019s residence address directly from Italy, after successfully concluding the procedure at the Consulate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Appointments for applying for the new Electronic ID Card can be booked through the web platform <a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\">PRENOT@MI<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CIE is issued:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 to Italian Nationals who wish to replace their paper ID card;<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 to Italian Nationals do not hold another valid ID card;<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 to Italian Nationals whose previous ID card has been lost, stolen or is deteriorated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A) ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In order to successfully apply for the CIE, an Italian national must: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; be \u00a0legally resident in the WA consular district and registered in AIRE (Anagrafe degli Italiani Residenti all\u2019Estero). For more information click <a href=\"https:\/\/consperth.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/anagrafe-degli-italiani-residenti-allestero-aire\/\">HERE:<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; have the birth certificate duly registered in Italy; for more information click <a href=\"https:\/\/consperth.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/stato-civile\/birth\/\">HERE<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; hold the Italian Tax Code validated by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate). For those who do not hold a valid tax code, this Consulate will be responsible for requesting it automatically; for more information click <a href=\"https:\/\/consperth.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/codice-fiscale\/\">HERE<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; have their position in the consular records duly up-to-date in relation to the address, marital status or birth of children. In case these information are not up-to-date, before requesting an appointment for the identity card, it will be necessary to update them as per the instructions provided in the relevant sections of our <a href=\"https:\/\/consperth.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/stato-civile\/\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Should investigations reveal evidence preventing the processing of the CIE application, the applicant will be informed of the reasons for rejection.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>B) VALIDITY OF CIE <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The validity of the ID card changes according to the age of the holder, more specifically:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 3 years for minors aged from 0 to 2 years;<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 5 years for minors aged from 3 to 17 years;<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 10 years for adults (aged 18 and above).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>C) APPLICATION PROCEDURE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The application for an electronic ID card <strong>must be<\/strong> submitted through the <a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\">Prenot@MI<\/a> online platform. The Prenot@mi portal can be accessed from a PC\/laptop using one of the following browsers: EDGE; Chrome.<\/p>\n<p>Normally the applicant must come to the appointment with the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Passport-size biometric photograph (recent, colour photograph in frontal view on a white background, 35 x 45mm size);<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Previous ID card. If it is missing, an identification document (even if it has expired);<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Lost\/stolen ID card form, if applicable;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Valid proof of residence in Western Australia (driver&#8217;s licence\/utility bill\/lease contract);<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Both parents\u2019 consent if the applicant is under 18;<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Debit card for payments (no contactless).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>E) DELIVERY OF THE CIE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the appointment, the consular officer will collect the documents listed at the previous point, carry out the identification of the applicant, and acquire their photograph and fingerprints (except for applicants under 12).<\/p>\n<p>The CIE is issued by the Italian Ministry of the Interior and printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (Italian State Printing Works and Mint), which posts it by registered mail to the applicant\u2019s residence address. The applicant will be able to track the delivery online through the tracking code provided.
