Every year on August 8 we commemorate the Day of the Sacrifice of Italian Labor in the World. This date coincides with the anniversary of the mining tragedy in Marcinelle, Belgium, which occurred in 1956 and in which 262 miners lost their lives, including 136 Italians. It is also a remarkable opportunity to honour all Italian migrants worldwide.
On Sunday, the 7th August at 11am the Consulate and the Committee of Italians in Western Australia will host a commemorative event at Vasto Memorial in East Perth to which the entire Italian community is cordially invited.
