Codice fiscale, PIN and SPID

Codice fiscale, PIN and SPID

Being an Italian citizen is not a precondition for receiving Italy's codice fiscale (tax identification number).

To request your own, just fill in the dedicated form, follow the instructions and attach a copy of photo ID and evidence of current home address (dated not earlier than 3 months back).

All complying applications are typically processed within 5 working days. Applicants will receive their codice fiscale only by e-mail, at the address they have indicated in the form.

No plastic card will be sent.

SPID is a Public Digital Identity System, through which citizens can access the online services of the public administration and the private organisations, with a pair of personal credentials (username and password).

Simple and safe, you can use SPID from any device: computers, tablets and smartphones, whenever, on a site or app of services, you find the button "Enter with SPID".

Choose how to activate it, free or for a fee, on the site of the identity providers. Once obtained, the use of SPID is free for the citizen. The Consulate is not entitled to issue the SPID credentials. Click here to find out how to obtain your SPID.

We remind to all customers that starting from 30th September 2021 SPID will be the only accepted way to access to web services of the Italian Public Administration.
