Italian citizens residing in WA who have been AIRE-registered for at least 12 months wishing to permanently move to Italy or any other country of the EU are entitled to receive a statement that allows exemption from customs duties on their personal belongings and/or car or motor-vehicle (if owned for at least 6 months). To request said document,  please fill and send in our e-form attaching the following:

  • copy of applicant's Italian passport (only page with photo);
  • detailed list of personal items;
  • departure date from Australia;
  • address of intended residence in Italy (or other EU country).

This document is issued free of charge.

Italian citizens who return to Italy after a dismissal or non-renewal of their employment contract are entitled to receive an unemployment subsidy for returned workers, as provided for by law no. 402 of 1975.
Those who are interested need to head on the INPS website and apply online, attaching documents proving the termination of the employment contract abroad (or they may contact a patronato). In order to obtain the Consulate stamp on the documentation, please finll and send our e-form.

It is also necessary to register with an employment center in Italy within 30 days of returning to Italy, which must take place within 180 days of the employment dismissal abroad.

Italian citizens who return to Italy by 30 June 2020 due to the pandemic from COVID-19 and re-establishing their residence there are entitled to the Emergency Income (REM) provided for by Decree-Law no. 34 of 19 May 2020 ("Relaunch Decree"). It should be noted that the Decree already produces legal effects, but has yet to be converted into law.

Again, applications are only online through the INPS website (more details available from a patronato).
