Electoral services

Italian citizens residing in Western Australia and regularly registered with AIRE can exercise the right to vote in their place of residence abroad for national political elections and for abrogative and constitutional referendums pursuant to articles 75 and 138 of the Constitution, provided they are registered in the electoral lists of their own Municipality.

Voting abroad for national political elections and referendums is regulated by Law no. 459 and the related Implementing Regulation (Presidential Decree April 2, 2003, n. 104), in implementation of the art. 48, 56 and 57 of the Constitution, which established the Foreign District.

Italian voters, as described above, can also vote for the election of representatives of the Com.It.Es. (Committees of Italians Abroad), as required by law 23 October 2003, n. 283.

In all the cases described above, voting is always and only by mail. In order to avoid any issue or delays in receiving electoral packages, it is recommended that you keep your personal data updated, promptly communicating any changes of address (or transfer to another country) via the FastIt portal.
